The government views your home’s solar energy as an environmental investment, which is why your installation can be subsidised. It’s called the ‘Small Scale Renewable Energy Scheme’.

The solar rebate is based on how many panels you have. The panels are assigned a certain number of small-scale technology certificates (STCs for short) which determine how much you’ll be paid back for the renewable energy your system generates.

Don’t miss out. At the start of each year, the value of the STCs reduces by 7%. In other words, you get paid less for your renewable energy with each year you delay installation. The scheme will be phased out by 2030.
